was discharged by Fannin about March 1st, 1836; and, excepting Captain Guerra, afterward joined the enemy.

7. After Fannin's withdrawal from Refugio to Goliad about February 12, 1836, he was joined, at the latter place by:

(1) The "Red Rovers," Captain Jack Shackelford, enlisted at Courtland, and Tuscumbia, Alabama, and armed, like Wyatt's Company, with muskets borrowed from the State of Alabama. The "Red Rovers" were a large company, in all about seventy men. They landed in Matagorda Bay, January 19, 1836, and joined Fannin at Goliad about February 13th.

(2) A small company, about fifteen men, from Memphis, Tennessee and Clinton, Mississippi, under Captain John E. Grace; which landed in Texas and marched to Goliad along with Shackelford's men.

(3) A very small company (nine or ten men) under acting Lieutenant Samuel Sprague, which was mustered into the service of Texas by the "Advisory Committee" of the General Council at San Felipe, February 9, 1836, and was sent forward to reinforce Col. Fannin. This squad joined Fannin at Goliad about February 20, 1836.

(4) A company of Refugio Militia, Captain Hugh McDonald Fraser, (fifteen or twenty men) which first
