from a clipping supplied, with other information, by Captain John C. P. Kennymore, a Fannin survivor who was later an officer in the Army of the Republic of Texas. It has since been reprinted in Baker's Texas Scrap Book, pp. 569-574; Linn's Reminiscences of Fifty Years in Texas, pp. 183-189; John Henry Brown's History of Texas, Vol. I, pp. 622, 624-629; Lamar Papers, Vol. I, pp. 482-486; and a revised version was preserved in the office of the Adjutant General.

Due to the conditions under which it was prepared, the original Telegraph and Texas Register Roll necessarily contained many errors; and each reprinting (except that in the Texas Almanac) has added its quota of mechanical and typographical blunders. John Henry Brown, who undertook to revise it, gathered much new information concerning Fannin and his men, but, by misreading and misquoting his sources, he has contributed more than his share of misinformation as well.
