Wiley A. Abercrombie was paid on a War Department certificate that he had served three months with Captain Wadsworth's Company, and that he was killed with Fannin's men. On LOMR for Wadsworth's Company his name appears as William Abercrombie, with notation "Deserted and absent without leave." There is no corroboration of this entry on the original or corrected versions of the T&TR Roll of Fannin's men [Ed: "William" on Dr. Barnard's roll]; and if the LOMR notation was on the original muster roll it must have been explained to the satisfaction of War Department, since deserters were forbidden by law to draw lands or pay. Wadsworth had a weakness for returning his men as "deserters;" and several so listed by him are known to have transferred to, and perished with, other companies in Fannin's Command. William A. Acklin's name does not appear on LOMR of Wyatt's Company for February 29, 1836; but was certified later by AGO as a member of Wyatt's Company whose name was not placed on original muster roll. This indicates that he was one of Wyatt's men, and that he was returned as such on Wyatt's original roll, from
