4. Militia Rolls (Texas), ms. The Receipt Roll of Capn J. T. Price's Compy of Spies, Jany 3-May 2, 1841, in ibid., has a penciled notation on the back that under the law of Congress only 15 men could be raised in each county. A penciled notation at the bottom of the roll states that it is overpaid by $42.00. The correct audit is given as 15 men for the whole time, or $5778.00. I have rearranged the names of the privates in alphabetical order by surname.

5. Ibid., shows that this person signed his name "George W. Guthrie."

6. Ibid., shows this name as "Joseph Rogers."

7. Ibid., shows that this person signed his name "Thomas Lane."

8. Ibid., shows that this person signed his name "A. Pieratt."
