Petition for
Road
To Graggs

To the Honorable the County Court in and for the County of Miller, the undersigned petitioners beg leave to present that a very considerable and important portion of the population of this County, situated about thirty-five miles south of the seat of Justice of said County and whereas the present and only road leading from the said settlement situated in the Sulphur Fork Prairies presents many prominent difficulties and aids greatly to the disadvantage of said citizens and travelers in passing to and from said seat of Justice, difficulties in consequence of their being many creeks to cross which are entirely void of bridges and subject to frequent inundation besides it being a circuitous route adds greatly to the distance, we ask leave to represent from our knowledge of the County that a road can be viewed and marked out from one of the aforesaid named places to the other that would greatly shorten the distance, improve the route and avoid crossing of four creeks in which travelers are liable to encounter many difficulties.
