Territory of Arkansas,
County of Miller,
United States of America.

This day personally appeared William Slingland before me James Clark, an acting Justice of the Peace in and for the County of Miller and Territory of Arkansas, aforesaid and being by me for that purpose first duly sworn, made and subscribed the following affidavit (to-wit: that James E. Harding is justly indebted to him, the said William Slingland, in the sum of one thousand dollars* due by account and that the said William Slingland verily believes that the said James D. Harding is about to remove himself and his effects out (written over from) this Territory so that the ordinary process of law cannot be served on him.
Sworn and subscribed to before me this 21st January, 1833.
  Wm. Slingland.
