were married in Mississippi. They left North Carolina and came to Texas about 1860. To this union were born nine children, five still living: J. Lee Cooper living at Clarksville, Green Cooper, Mrs. T. H. Hollis, now living in Sherman, Texas, Sash, now living in Electra, Texas, Johnnie B., Lanny, now living in Durant, Oklahoma, Mrs. Lillia Dickson, now living in Sherman, Texas. Several children died in infancy. Mr. J. Lee Cooper has been a farmer all of his life and has been identified with all civic and righteous improvements in the county of Red River. He is the father of nine children, 19 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

[The Medford Family]

Luke R. Medford first married Miss Nancy Garrett. After her death he married Miss Louise Tedder in Alabama. Mr. Medford and his second wife came to Texas in 1870. Six children[*] came with them. Adline Medford married T. O. McCluskey who lived for years at Woodland in Red River County and died at Eastland, Texas, two years ago. Jeff Medford was born in Alabama and came to Texas with his father and mother in 1870. He married Miss Mattie Lewis in Parker County. He died in 1926, in Eastland County, leaving a large family. Dr. W. M. Medford was born in Alabama and came to Texas in 1870 with his parents. He married Miss Mary Dalby and died in 1931. To this union were born four children, two boys and two girls. Edd L. Medford died in 1930. Park J. Medford married Miss
