A PROMINENT PIONEER FAMILY, NOW LIVING
AT BAGWELL

At Bagwell lives Mr. B. M. Sport, age 76 years, whose father, L. H. Sport, came to Texas from Alabama in 1872, stopping north of Clarksville, where Dimple is now. He was married to Miss Martha Collins.

To this union were born eight children, five boys and three girls, namely: William, deceased; B. M. Sport, now living at Bagwell; J. C. Sport, deceased; James E. Sport, Gladewater, Texas; J. Edgar Sport, Los Angeles, California, the girls all deceased.

He says: "I knew old Stephensboro in 1872; it is eight miles northeast from Bagwell. There were four or five merchants there, besides the furniture factory. The town was named for 'Obadiah Stephens'."
