He received his M. D. Degree at the University of Pennsylvania in 1855. He married Nancy Ann Virginia Hopkins in the 1850's. He also served in the Civil War. His children were: Pat, who died in infancy; L. Hopkins, William Adolphus, Samuel Belle, Lillie Rebecca, who died in childhood; and Joseph Wright Moore.

L. Hopkins Moore married Lucy Elizabeth Dinwiddie at Clarksville. William Adolphus Moore married Margaret Greeg [Gregg?] in Hopkins County. Samuel Belle Moore married Mollie Joe Johnson in Clarksville. Joseph Wright Moore engaged in Indian Service in New Mexico. He married Mollie Miller and lived in Vernon County.

America Moore, daughter of William Moore, married Harry Christian and moved to Hopkins County. The other daughter of William Moore married a Mr. Lanney. They had a daughter who married Mr. Madden. Their child was Georgia Madden, who married Frank Rainey and moved to Honey Grove.

Juliet Narcissa Moore was born in Madison County, Tennessee, on October 20, 1830. She married James Wright Stanley[*], January 22, 1851 at Clarksville, Texas. She had been attending Mrs. Todd's school. She died September 9, 1906. Their children were: Amanda W. Stanley, Mary T., William Marion, Elizabeth Cynthia, Phorbia A., Samuel Beauregard, Nannie A., and James W., who died at the age of 8 years. Mary T. Stanley married Charles Bobbington Craig,
